Matthew Paul Coverston (born September 4, 2007), is a young filmmaker, writer, and video editor who began by creating his own short films in the summer of 2024. With the basic knowledge of camera work, dialogue, and story beats from Star Wars, he created Astrowars: Rise of the Prodigy (2024). Starring himself and his younger cousin, Clint Coverston, the short project inspired him to dive into other genres of film and continue directing his own works.

Matthew made multiple short films provided by a UIL Film Prep class at Longview Highschool and has since led to projects like Rehearsal (2024), Criminal Audit (2026), and Sentimental Value (2026). He often stars in his own films he directs, whether as the main protagonist or side character. Matthew also has an interest in stop motion as well, and likes to try different techniques with the camera, cast, or genre of film.
