Initially sent on excursion to Mexico’s CMLL as Kawato‑San (winning the CMLL World Lightweight Championship), he returned to NJPW as Master Wato and has since become a two‑time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion and the 2023 Best of the Super Juniors tournament winner.
