Olga Helena Frances Lindo was born in London at the end of the Victorian era to Frank and Marion (née Wakeford) Lindo. She had one brother Reginald David Marion Lindo (1900-72). Her father was a well-known actor-manager and author. It was no surprise then when Olga made her stage debut aged just fourteen in The Sleeping Beauty Re-Awakened at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London's Covent Garden. She joined her father's touring company taking on a wide range of roles. By 1925 she had been described as formibable by the Times for her portrayal of Sadie Thompson in Maugham's Rain at the Garrick Theatre. Her range was extrordinary and she graced the London stage for over half a century.
