Based on the novel of the same name written by Belén López Peiró, the short film follows Lucía (the author's alter ego), a 22-year-old student who reveals the abuse she suffered as a child. A trip to the town where she grew up marks the beginning of a journey of resilience, but the silence and hypocrisy she encounters within her family prove to be a major obstacle.

Frustrated by failure and public humiliation, Lily, a wannabe YouTuber, finds herself with no other option but to work for a new social media app named ‘Kathartist,’ where users create content using their smart glasses. Little does she know, this app is actually a front for a cult worshiping the almighty Algorithm, brainwashing failed content makers like her for recruitment. As she becomes more involved, Lily becomes successful but grows increasingly vulnerable to Gabe, a worldwide famous influencer known for his reaction videos, particularly those targeting Lily’s original content.
The film is a continuous time-lapse with multiple exposures of the sunset from the same angle and position on 16mm film. The shoot was done in a span of 5 years. The title 13 is because the time-lapse has a 13-second interval per frame.
