The first thing memory forgets when a loved one dies is their voice. Using home videos recorded by his father between 1997 and 2004, the author traces a search through his own memories. Volver Cantando is a grandson's attempt to recover the voice of his grandmother, a woman who had much to say in life and whose voice is being lost in time. This race against oblivion is, in a way, a tribute to all those people whose lives will never appear in the history books but who were no less important for that.
