Based on the story of Emmanuel Kazakevich "In the light of day". A year after the end of the Great Patriotic War, a soldier Sleptsov appears in Olga Nechaeva's Moscow apartment, who went through the war side by side with her husband. His stories about the deceased Vitaly Nechaev, a fearless and noble hero, cause Olga perplexity: after all, she did not remember her modest husband like that at all.
