After Liu Xiaobo was awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize, his wife, Liu Xia, was placed under house arrest by the Chinese authorities. The film documents Liu Xiaobo and Liu Xia's friends' repeated attempts to contact her by various means, as well as the friend's attempts to contact Liu Xia by hitting her outside her window with a red laser pointer.
