The Way to Seoul (1962)

Korean War, winter 1950. In the frozen and snowy area of Changjin Lake, a bloody battle is about to begin between the elite troops of the United States and China.

In 1933, when Korea was under Japanese occupation, five people in Gyeongseong are suspected to be "Phantom" spies of the anti-Japanese organization.

Based on a real event, an easy Korean domestic flight bound for Gimpo takes an ill-fated turn when one of the passengers, Yong-dae (Yeo Jin-goo), hijacks the plane with a bomb, demanding to change the flight’s path to North Korea, where his brother lives. With the captain (Sung Dong-il) losing his eyesight from the initial bomb blast, co-pilot Tae-in takes over the flight and fights to save the lives of the passengers, along with the flight attendant Ok-soon (Chae Soo-bin).

After completing his required decade of military service and being honored as a hero, a North Korean sergeant makes a sudden shocking attempt to defect to the South, risking life and limb for the chance to finally determine his own destiny.

Dreaming of making a way station for his sister and the villagers who have no choice but to commute along the dangerous train tracks every day, Joon-kyung sends many letters to the President, but with no reply. Ra-hee, who has a crush on Joon-kyung, does everything she can to help him meet the President.

However, she gets to know that he is no more and the only thing he has left for her is a letter-delivering task, written by Ram to Sita. As Afreen sets out to find Ram, there begins her journey of discovering the secret behind the 20-year-old letter.

In August 1950, waiting for UN troops to arrive, the South Korean army assembled to protect Nakdong River. Only 71 student-soldiers are left behind to guard the city of Pohang. Now they are on a mission to defend the country from North Korean troops.
