In the Qinling Mountains of Shaanxi, it is rumored that Fusu, the son of Qin Shihuang, died here during the Qin and Han Dynasties. On this day, Tang Zeng, who was working as a tour guide, took his girlfriend Chenxi and friend Tang Xiaowei back to their hometown to play. On the long-distance bus, they met Luo Ping and Mai Jiaqi, who claimed to be engaged in environmental protection research, and the hospitable Tang Zeng agreed to serve as tour guides for them. The journey seemed destined to be fraught with unease. The old man in the village warned these young people that on the red day, they must not enter the forest, especially the checkmate who once left a terrible legend. Edmond Dantes is falsely accused by those jealous of his good fortune, and is sentenced to spend the rest of his life in the notorious island prison, Chateau d'If. While imprisoned, he meets the Abbe Faria, a fellow prisoner whom everyone believes to be mad. The Abbe tells Edmond of a fantastic treasure hidden away on a tiny island, that only he knows the location of. After many years in prison, the old Abbe dies, and Edmond escapes disguised as the dead body. Now free, Edmond must find the treasure the Abbe told him of, so he can use the new-found wealth to exact revenge on those who have wronged him.

Tangshan, 1976. Two seven-year-old twins are buried under the rubble of the deadliest earthquake of the 20th century. The rescue team explains to their mother that freeing either child will almost certainly result in the death of the other. Forced to make the most difficult decision of her life, she finally chooses to save her son. Though left behind as dead, the little girl miraculously survives, unbeknownst to her brother and mother.
