“Spirit of the Valley” is a medium-length film composed entirely of fragments from an anonymous Super8 collection shot in the '80s. No new footage has been added. The protagonists of this bio-photochemical impromptu jam session are the faces and places captured by the filmmaker’s lens during those years: scattered fragments that I selected and altered through various interventions on the emulsion, alongside the assistance of time. Images shot almost half a century ago survive in an eroded state, resurfacing at times untouched in this ghost home movie, an elegy to 8mm film, an ode to Moviechrome, and a requiem for Kodachrome.
