Father Miguel is a catholic Mexican priest in charge of a small church of a working-class neighbourhood in London. He is deeply troubled with the current deterioration of society, and his desperation gets amplified when a tragic crime in his community makes him reach an emotional breaking point inside him, and he decides to try to seek justice by his own hand.

A young priest, Father Chisholm is sent to China to establish a Catholic parish among the non-Christian Chinese. While his boyhood friend, also a priest, flourishes in his calling as a priest in a more Christian area of the world, Father Chisholm struggles. He encounters hostility, isolation, disease, poverty and a variety of set backs which humble him, but make him more determined than ever to succeed.

Sent to Mexico to help take care of aging Father Benito, young Father Amaro faces a moral challenge when he meets a 16-year-old girl who he starts an affair with. Likewise, the girl's mother had been having an affair with Father Benito. Father Amaro must choose between a holy or sinful life.
