Luis Nery is fighting for the first time since his sixth-round stoppage loss to Naoya Inoue last May for the undisputed junior featherweight championship. The Kameda fight is Nery’s first in his hometown since October 2022, when he stopped David Carmona in three rounds. Kameda, of Osaka, Japan, is riding an 8-0-1 streak but is fighting for the first time outside of his home country. The 26-year-old Kameda is four years younger than Nery, a former WBC bantamweight and junior featherweight titleholder.
