Alina, the title pretty girl, resigns from her job at a theater in Koszalin and goes with a friend to Michalow in Podlasie. The two take a job at the community cultural center, offered to them by Mariola, Pawel's mother, who has just been appointed mayor of the town. The charismatic mayor rules with a firm hand and sets her own rules not only in the municipality, but also in the family. She is not afraid of risky investments, nosy journalists or not entirely competent officials. He pursues his son's attempts to marry Alina. The plan backfires when Wlodek - the frontman of the band Badylaże - shows up. Alina falls in love with him without memory, forgets about Paul and accepts a quick engagement. The acquaintance ends tragically....

He is privy to all of their problems, anxieties and secrets – and something of an unwitting guru figure. Zenia’s grounded spirituality, apparent healing powers and broad shoulders make him an object of lust for many of the lost souls in the community.
