After he loses his job, his father, and his girlfriend, Jan's life is a shambles. Then suddenly he meets freakish street musician Vera, and a bittersweet romance unfolds...

In the quiet and picturesque Yarramalong Valley, Officers Henry and Brooks find a young woman wandering by the roadside, distraught from events she has just witnessed. Following a report of a possible crash site, the officers suspect the young woman is a survivor; taking her into their care they proceed to investigate. Within the undulating trees, not everything is as it seems. Who has come to Earth? Do we need a hero to save us all?

Prosecutor Kohei Kuryu takes charge of a case with a foreign embassy possessing the key to solve the case. Due to the extraterritoriality involving the case, the investigation has not gone anywhere. A group of German boys are ordered to protect a small bridge in their home village during the waning months of the second world war. Truckloads of defeated, cynical Wehrmacht soldiers flee the approaching American troops, but the boys, full of enthusiasm for the "blood and honor" Nazi ideology, stay to defend the useless bridge. The film is based on a West German anti-war novel of the same name, written by Gregor Dorfmeister.
