Three people — a blue-collar American, a French journalist and a London school boy — are touched by death in different ways.

Karen, Sarah, and Emma Tunney are all moving to a small town in Pennsylvania where, unknown to them, in 1913, a horrid mine accident trapped dozens of children alive, underground. But there's a problem. They're still alive.

But something does happen. An evil and horrifying force has taken over Michael King. And it will not let him go.
