On the evening of August 7 to the early morning of August 8, 2010, a heavy rainfall triggered a mudslide in the north-eastern part of Zhouqu County in Tibet. Tens of thousands of people were affected. What is even more distressing is that many families were separated, and many surviving children have lost their parents, or have been injured and disabled. With the cordial care of the Party Central Committee, the party committees and governments at all levels in Gansu Province, Lanzhou City and Lanzhou New District strongly supported. In September 2012, Xinzhou Middle School opened in Qinwangchuan. Thousands of Zhouqu children who lost their homes and schools in the disaster received this new "home" and started a new study life.

The two women refuse to let any obstacles stand in their way as they battle a bureaucracy that's hopelessly mired in traditional thinking, and they seek to re-energize a faculty that has lost its passion for teaching.
