Eye Contact is an experimental documentary filmed in the main square of Bratislava's Old Town. Robert Durec sits in the square and asks random people to join him for one minute of eye contact. Each meeting is different - some people are shy, others curious, some laugh, while others stay serious. The film shows the genuine emotions before, during, and after the eye contact, capturing simple but powerful moments of human connection.

Successful surgeon Tomas leaves Prague for an operation, meets a young photographer named Tereza, and brings her back with him. Tereza is surprised to learn that Tomas is already having an affair with the bohemian Sabina, but when the Soviet invasion occurs, all three flee to Switzerland. Sabina begins an affair, Tom continues womanizing, and Tereza, disgusted, returns to Czechoslovakia. Realizing his mistake, Tomas decides to chase after her.

Selma, a Czech immigrant on the verge of blindness, struggles to make ends meet for herself and her son, who has inherited the same genetic disorder and will suffer the same fate without an expensive operation. When life gets too difficult, Selma learns to cope through her love of musicals, dreaming up little numbers to the rhythmic beats of her surroundings.
