Çelo is a village boy who was orphaned at the age of two. After becoming an orphan, he is forced to grow up with his cruel uncle and aunt. The only thing that kept him tied to the village was his deep love for his uncle's daughter, Kezik. As he grew older, Çelo struggled to survive as a shepherd, but eventually he could no longer endure his uncle and aunt's cruelty and ran away from home at the age of 14. Leaving the village with the intention of returning to take Kezik, Çelo finds her married to someone she does not love when he returns years later. Determined to claim his share of his father's fields and the girl he loves, Çelo does not give up, but both Çelo and Kezik will be tested by having to sacrifice great things for this cause.

A stagnant and gloomy village in the 1980s. Reyhan, Nurhan, and Havva, three sisters were sent to town as 'besleme' (foster child and maid). Since they fail their foster parents for different reasons, they are sent back to their father's house in their poor village. Deprived of their dreams of a better life, they try to hold on to each other.

25-year-old Sibel lives with her father and sister in a secluded village in the mountains of Turkey’s Black Sea region. Sibel is a mute, but she communicates by using the ancestral whistled language of the area.
