Rosa Blanca is a Spanish singer and dancer hired for a show in Mexico. She travels with her twin sister, Blanca, but goes undercover as a surprise in the show. The twins also use their resemblance to confuse Herman, a young Mexican-Rosa Blanca's love, and also live moments of tension when receiving a death threat.

Rose and her daughter Sofia travel to the Spanish seaside town of Almería to consult with the shamanic Dr. Gomez, a physician who could possibly hold the cure to Rose’s mystery illness, which has left her bound to a wheelchair. But in the sultry atmosphere of this sun-bleached town Sofia, who has been trapped by her mother’s illness all her life, finally starts to shed her inhibitions, enticed by the persuasive charms of enigmatic traveller Ingrid.

Valentín, a political prisoner, shares a cell with Molina, a window dresser convicted of public indecency. The two form an unlikely bond as Molina recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical starring his favorite silver screen diva, Ingrid Luna.
