Carlo, a mediocre writer, is happily married to Sabrina and has a beautiful 9-year-old daughter. At one point, he manages to fulfill his dream of publishing a book. But things take a turn for the worse when he is invited to Florence for the presentation of his novel. Carlo falls in love with Giovanna, the publisher, to the point of asking his wife for a divorce as soon as he returns home.
