Joan is a naïve, 16-year-old who falls in love easily. Each character is threatened with the inevitable payment for wrong choices in the past, but helping each other, they try to expiate these faults.

After being implicated in a terrorist attack, Santi, a taxi driver, is taken hostage by one of the perpetrators.

Zahira, 18, is close to her family until her parents ask her to follow Pakistani tradition to choose a husband. Torn between family customs and her western lifestyle, the young woman turns for help to her brother and confidant Amir.
