By order of Vittorio Emanuele III, Mussolini is arrested and Marshal Badoglio signed an armistice with the Anglo-American troops, decreeing in fact the end of the alliance with the Germans. Captain Vitale and his men are thus in custody because they were considered enemies of former allies. Meanwhile in Rome also Alfredo Vitale, father of Captain Lorenzo and convinced fascist hierarch, undergoes the new political order and for not to lose the esteem of his Nazi officer friends decides to make a plan using Riccardo Vollaro’s complicity, Lieutenant Colonel of the Royal Army who remained loyal to the Duce.
