Balkan Line (2019)

Very loosely based on Nabokov’s ‘Lolita’, this is the story of a writer renting a room at a single mother’s house that starts an affair with the daughter of her.

Gelya is enjoying being young. Her elder sister Kristina is expecting a second child at the age of just 17, and people are predicting the same fate for 14-year-old Gelya. After going out for a walk with a boy who is besotted with her, she ends up getting drunk on strawberry beer and sitting on his lap while weeping over her own unrequited love.
