When her older sister dies, a woman returns from Saint Petersberg to a remote village in Yakutia. Bit by bit, a drama of epic proportion unfolds—accompanied and intensified by the Yakut throat singing of the two women. Although the camera lets us viscerally feel the state of limbo she finds herself in, the woman manages—together with her niece—to go her own way. Atmospheric and moving.
