Aurora (2011)

The New Year That Never Came is a tragicomedy whose action takes place in a single day, before the counter-revolution of 1989, in which the characters search for normality, safety, love, freedom and meaning in an absurd world.

An absentee father and his bipolar son are forced to live together as they struggle with a recent family tragedy. The tension and anxiety boil as they live and try to cope in a tiny apartment. As time passes, they realize their shared pain is not their only source of grief, as they find the outside world is a cruel and unjust place.

Thomas was once renowned as a young tennis prodigy, but never had the career he hoped for. Here starts Petrov’s desperate struggle to get back not only his old watch, but his dignity.
